Work With What You Have
As a trauma survivor, I’m interested in the balance between intention and that which is beyond our control.
I begin with broad panes of representational, textured black. I wash color over the black, absorbing the dark contrast into something bigger. A brushstroke is a memory, a line is a thought, an arc is a story. The limited palette is purposeful, I work with what I have to record the layers of my experience. This is how I make the future.
